So Trump Got “Caught” Lying About Stormy Daniels. So What?
Lying is not illegal.
All that Trump lawyer and former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani and subsequent Tweets from “Trump” (written in perfect legalese), were out to prove was that the $130,000 payoff to the porn star was not an in-kind political contribution, which would’ve been illegal.
Yeah the fact the the Trump legal team felt its strongest course of action is to admit that Trump paid off a porn star out of his own pocket, and that barely sends a ripple through his sea of supporters is mind boggling.
But catching Trump in a lie is pretty meaningless. Not only because everybody knows by now Trump lies all the time. We’re even suspicious of a recent poll’s findings that Trump supporters believe he tells the truth. They know he lies. We think when they say they believe he tells the truth, they mean they believe he speaks the truth. Different.
And anyway lying is not illegal. Lying to the public is not illegal. Lying to the media is not illegal. About the only folks it’s really illegal for Trump to lie to would be federal investigators like the Mueller team and the F.B.I.
