Republicans are going so hard on the LA fires and Democratic leadership in California because they think it could win them the state. That’s why. Opportunitism. Nothing to do with anything else. And if that happens, game over. Forever. No more worrying about the Midwest.

Will it work?

Who knows? Ted Cruz taking off on a Caribbean vacation during a major natural disaster in Texas didn’t cost him his Senate seat. So the public didn’t care that much about dereliction of public duty there. (Not saying there is in California, just saying…) At the same time, California in the not such distant past, has recalled an unpopular Democratic governor in favor of a Republican.

So, worth a shot, no? The trade off: looking like un-empathic a-holes. But will that make any difference to anyone? No! Hate and blame is what everything’s all about now. Even as people are trying to do their very hard jobs. Get used to it.
